Hello, everyone.Recently, the weather is getting hotter and hotter.we have entered summer.Today, let me introduce some healthy living tips in summer to you.I will give you my advice on eating, exercising and sleeping.First, let me tell you something about eating. We can eat more cool vegetables, such as: cucumber, tomato, celery, lettuce and so on.If you like eating fruits, I think watermelon is the best choice. We should also drink plenty of water. Our bodies are easy to lose moisture because of the high temperature in summer, so we are supposed to replenish moisture in time. What’s more, remember do not wait to drink water until you feel thirsty. As a matter of fact, when you feel thirsty, your body is already in the dry state. Moreover, we mustbear in mind that we should drink less before and after meals. When the weather is hot ,eating ice cream properly will play a certain role in cooling downour body temperature, but don’t eat too much.In contrast.I think green bean soup is a better choice. Then, even in summer we should choose some time to do sports.Movement should neither be too intense nor too long. You had better not drink cool water immediately after exercise, because it’s really bad for your stomach. At last, I will give you two suggestion about sleeping.Though many people feel very sleepy in summer, we ought to keep a normal sleep schedule.Seven hours is ok , because sleeping too long will cause a bad influence on our bodies.I think a appropriate nap is

necessary, and nap time is preferably about 1 hours.May you a good summer. That’s all.thank you.

I have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears and sweat. We have before us an ordeal

of the most grievous kind.We have before us many, many months of struggle and suffering. You ask, what is our aim? I can answer in one word, it is victory.Victory at all costs—victory in spite of all terrors—victory, however long and hard the road may be, for without victory there is no survival.Let that be realized, no survival for the British Empire, no survival for all that British Empire has stood for , no survival for the urge, the impulse of the ages, that mankind shall more forward toward his goal.I take up my task in buoyancy and hope.I feel sure that our cause will not be suffered to fail among men.I feel entitled at this juncture, at this time, to claim the aid of all and to say, “Come then, let us go forward together with our united strength.”

Entitled: adj. My fellow Americans, ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country. My fellow citizens of the world, ask not what America will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of men. Finally whether you are citizens of America, or citizens of the world, ask of us here, the same high standards of strength and sacrifice which we ask of you. With a good conscience of our only sure reward, with history the final judge of our deeds, let us go forth to lead the land we love, asking His blessing and His help, but knowing that here on earth, God's work must truly be our own.--By John F.Kennedy

citizen: n.

sacrifice: n./ v.

conscience: n.

Let me express my firm belief that the only thing we have to fear is fear itself-nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror, which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance. In every dark hour of our national life, a leadership of frankness and vigor has met with that understanding and support of the people themselves, which is essential to victory and I am convinced that you will again give that support to leadership in these critical days.In such a spirit on my part and on yours, we face our common difficulties. They concern, thank God, only material things.--By Franklin D.Roosevelt

unreasoning: adj.

In this symposium, better is it to only sit in silence. To express one's feelings as the end draws near is too intimate a task. That I would mention only one thought that comes to me as a listener-in: the riders in a race do not stop short when they reach the goal, there is a little finishing canter before coming to a standstill, there is time to hear the kind voice of friends, and to say to oneself, the work is done. But just as one says that, the answer comes, the race is over, but the work never is done while the power to work remains. The canter that brings you to a standstill need not be only coming to rest;it cannot be while you still live. But to live is to function, that is all there is in living. So I end with a land from a Latin voice: death, death, clutches my ear, and says, live, I am coming.--By Oliver Wendell Holmes

in this symposium:此刻

At this timegoal: n.

standstill: n.停止

八、The grandest of these ideals is an unfolding American promise that everyone belongs, that everyone deserves a chance that no insignificant person was ever born.Americans are called to enact this promise in our lives and in our laws. And though our nation has sometimes halted, and sometimes delayed, we must follow no other course.Through much of the last century, America's faith in freedom and democracy was a rock in a raging sea.Now it is a seed upon the wind, taking root in many nations. Our democratic faith is more than the creed of our country, it is the inborn hope of our humanity, an ideal we carry but do not own, a trust we bear and pass along. And even after nearly 225 years, we have a long way yet to travel.--By George W.Bush

insignificant: adj.

Love Your Life

Henry David Thoreau/享利.

However mean your life is,meet it and live it;do not shun it and call it hard names. It is not so bad as you are.It looks poorest when you are richest. The fault-finder will find faults in paradise.Love your life, poor as it is.You may perhaps have some pleasant, thrilling, glorious hourss, even in a poor-house.The setting sun is reflected from the windows of the alms-house as brightly as from the rich man's abode;the snow melts before its door as early in the spring.I do not see but a quiet mind may live as contentedly there, and have as cheering thoughts,as in a palace. The town's poor seem to me often to live the most independent lives of any.May be they are simply great enough to receive without misgiving. Most think that they are above being supported by the town;but it often happens that they are not above supporting themselves by dishonest means.which should be more disreputable.Cultivate poverty like a garden herb, like sage.Do not trouble yourself much to get new things, whether clothes or friends,Turn the old, return to them.Things do not change;we change.Sell your clothes and keep your thoughts.
