An old man has a cat.The cat is very old, too.He runs very quickly.And his teeth are bad.One evening, the old cat sees a little mouse.He catches it, but he can’t eat it because his teeth are not strong enough.The mouse runs away.The old man is very angry.He beats his cat.He says: “You are a fool cat.I will punish you!” the cat is very sad.He thinks:“When I was young, I worked hard for you.Now you don’t like me because I’m too old to work.You should know you are old, too.”

小侦察员张嘎

抗战时期，生活在白洋淀的小男孩张嘎与唯一的亲人奶奶相依为命。为了掩护在家养伤的八路军侦察连长钟亮，奶奶英勇地牺牲在日军的刺刀下，而钟亮也被敌人抓走。嘎子历经艰辛，找到八路军，当上了一名小侦察员。他配合侦察员罗金保执行任务，表现得勇敢、机智。但嘎子毕竟还是一个活泼、淘气的孩子，他与小朋友胖墩摔跤输了还不讲道理，去堵胖墩家的烟囱。在一次战斗中，他缴获了敌人一支手枪，竟偷偷把枪藏进了老鸦窝里，没有上缴。为攻打敌人岗楼，他奉命进城侦察时被捕。当部队攻打岗楼时，他设法在里面放火，里应外合，全歼敌人，救出了老钟叔，也替奶奶报了仇。战斗结束后，嘎子把藏在老鸦窝里的手枪主动拿出来上缴。队长正式宣布把手枪发给他使用。

儿童团团长海娃

这个抗日小英雄的故事，发生在华北抗日根据地。12岁的龙门村儿童团团长海娃每天一面放羊，一面放哨，监视着前边平川地里敌人的据点。一天，炮楼里的鬼子进山去抢粮食了，只剩下“猫眼司令”和几个鬼子兵。民兵中队长老赵画了一张攻打炮楼的路线图，并写了一封信准备把它交给八路军张连长。老赵把送信的任务交给了儿子海娃。海娃一看信封上面插了鸡毛，知道是十分重要的，他赶着一群羊作掩护送信去了。没想到，海娃在山沟里碰上了鬼子，他灵机一动，把鸡毛信拴在了“老头羊”的尾巴里，瞒过了鬼子小队长。一路上海娃受尽了折磨。深夜海娃好不容易从睡得像死猪一样的鬼子的腿缝里溜了出来。他赶到羊圈里，小心地把鸡毛信取了下来，一口气跑了几里路。后面伪军也追来了，海娃又被他们抓回去。他把鬼子带到了一条山路上，鬼子的骡马不能爬陡峭的山坡，海娃乘机拼命往山上爬，愈爬愈远，鬼子开枪打中了海娃的手。海娃忍着疼拉开嗓子喊“八路军叔叔„„”海娃把鸡毛信交给了张连长。

华罗庚毅然回国

大数学家华罗庚，在“七·七”事变后，从生活待遇优厚的英国回到抗日烽火到处燃烧的祖国，不为金钱和学位，回国后积极参加抗日救国运动。1950年，他已经成为国际知名的第一流数学家，并被美国伊里诺大学聘为终身教授，但他毅然带领全家回到刚解放的祖国。

爱国英雄杨靖宇

杨靖宇21岁参加革命，1940初，他被日军围困，身负重伤，啃不动树皮，只能将棉衣里的棉花和着冰雪吞下去充饥。日军劝降不成，便放乱枪，年仅35岁的杨靖宇壮烈牺牲。残忍的日军剖开他的遗体，当看到他的胃里只有野草和棉絮时，这些被杨靖宇带领的抗日联军弄得焦头烂额的侵略者全呆住了。在冰天雪地的长白山密林中，支撑着杨靖宇与敌人战斗的力量是对祖国的一腔热爱之情
