I dropped out of Reed College after the first six months but then stayed around as a drop-in for another 18 months or so before I really quit.So why did I drop out? My second story is about love and loss.I was lucky.I found what I loved to do early in life.Woz and I started Apple in my parents' garage when I was 20.We worked hard and in ten years, Apple had grown from just the two of us in a garage into a $2 billion company with over 4,000 employees.We'd just released our finest creation, the Macintosh, a year earlier, and I'd just turned 30, and then I got fired.How can you get fired from a company you started? Well, as Apple grew, we hired someone who I thought was very talented to run the company with me, and for the first year or so, things went well.But then our visions of the future began to perge, and eventually we had a falling out.When we did, our board of directors sided with him, and so at 30, I was out, and very publicly out.What had been the focus of my entire

第五篇：从耶鲁大学毕业的猫

在美国耶鲁大学，三年来，有一只猫每天出现在其中的一个教室里。

这只猫名叫布巴，原本是一只流浪猫，在三年前被一位书店老板收养，老板起初只是把它关在家里，但它一直“喵喵”地叫个不停，主人就知道它其实想出门去玩，所以就让它自由活动了。结果它摸索着进入了耶鲁大学，从此发现世界上居然还有上课这么“有意义”的事情，于是就每天过来听课了。

它非常的“勤奋好学”，无论是刮风还是下雨，它每天都会准时来到教室里听课。原本教室里并没有它的专用座位，它只是蹲坐在教室的角落里，奇怪的是每次老师讲到精彩处，它都会探头探脑，显得很专注，后来同学们就从学校仓库里为它搬来一张桌子和椅子。

刚开始，布巴并不知道这是给它准备的，所以它依旧喜欢蹲坐在地上，后来同学们把它抱到了椅子上，从此它就知道了这是它的专用桌椅，至少它可以毫无顾忌地坐在这里了。布巴“听课”非常安静，从不乱叫乱跳，它还曾因此而得到过教授的表扬。

那次，有几个男同学不认真上课，还调皮捣蛋影响别人，教授发觉以后就说：“你们自己可以不听，但起码不要影响别人，你们看布巴，它虽然经常会打盹，但它从不影响别人！”不过，这种侧面的赞美遭到了同学们的反对，因为他们觉得不能因为布巴闭上了眼睛而断定它不认真上课，就像是人类也会闭上眼睛听收音机一样。在同学们强烈的反对声中，教授只能改变说辞，并在讲台上对布巴道了歉。

每天，布巴都会准时到教室门口安静等待开门上课，比其他学生都准时，它也有来得太早的时候，于是它就会先在门口眯一会儿，同学们都说它是“为了避免在上课时打瞌睡”。因为布巴上课太勤，同学们就向学校提议给它颁发“学生证”，结果耶鲁大学的高层领导还真的派人连续考察了一周，发现它真的天天来听课，于是就答应了同学们的请求，派人给布巴拍了一张照片，然后煞有介事地给布巴做了一张“学生证”，挂在布巴的脖子上。

因为布巴实在太受欢迎，同学们甚至提出了更加非分的请求，他们向学校提议说为布巴竖立一个雕像，不过这个提议最终被学校驳回了，耶鲁大学的现任校长理查德·查尔斯·莱文还因此抱怨说：“我辛苦为学校耕耘了20多年，为什么没有学生提出为我塑雕像？”

不过，理查德校长做出了另一个决定，因为布巴所在的班级眼看要毕业了，那就让布巴和同学们一起拿到一张耶鲁大学的毕业证吧！于是在202_年7月18日，学校让同学们为布巴披上了一件特制的毕业袍，然后让他和同学们一起拍了毕业照。“在耶鲁大学‘读了三年书’，它将会用这些知识做什么并不重要，重要的是它毕竟陪着学生们一起度过了这三年！”理查德校长在毕业典礼上说。

这件事情传开以后，很多地方的人都批评耶鲁大学对毕业证视为儿戏，但是理查德校长并不这样认为，他在耶鲁大学的社交网站上发视频说：“第一，我们从它身上学到了这样一个道理，只要坚持不懈，你总有被人认可和取得正果的那一天；第二，这并不是视毕业证为儿戏，而是对任何一个坚持者的尊重与爱，哪怕那只是一只猫，而尊重与爱，本身就是教育的核心。”
