很多人一直在强调标化和面试，其实美高的文书也是比较重要的。一般来说，除了比较好的寄宿中学可以先约面试再提交资料，其他的学校包括走读中学都是先看材料再面试的，所以申请材料可以说是招生官了解学生的第一个资源。通过文书，不仅可以反映学生的英文写作表达能力，也能看出学生的综合实力。

文书可以针对不同类型的学校分为一类，二类和三类。可以简单概况为，越顶尖的学校文书就越重要。

一类是顶尖寄宿或走读中学，比如菲利普斯安多福这类学校。这类学校申请的学生标化成绩都很高，差别不大，不足以让学校来做出区分，因此文书在第一轮筛选中就显得很重要。这类学校会从文书来看孩子的各方素质，字里行间透露的自信，成熟，见解等。因此，这类学校的文书题目不仅仅是简单地围绕学生的情况来描述，会增加一些思想深度的题目。比如设计一个毕业演说，或者给你100w你会怎么花之类的话题。一个真正优秀的孩子能够想出的答案非常不一样。而针对这些问题，如何才能够更好地去体现自己的特色是需要思索的。一定要好好挖掘自己的特色，进行自省，剖析自我。

而这些特点在这些问题上能够怎样去凸显出来。美高的文书不在于文字的漂亮，而是在于孩子的思想以及真实的体现。所有这些都是会跟面试相呼应的。所以一定要很好地对待文书，而不是简单地作答就完了。包括父母的问卷，也都是要有非常好的呼应的，千万不能马虎对待。

二类学校是排名稍微靠前寄宿中学以及大多数的走读中学。这类学校相对来说竞争不是太过激烈，一般来说学校有一个比较明确的录取标准，只要达到标化成绩申请面试也比较不错的话录取可能性都是非常大的。文书的重要性远远没有上述一类学校重要。对于这类学校，文书关注点最重要在于真诚。总体来说可能不是太需要深度的思维，但就是要比较真实地体现自己，并且学生要参与其中，因为越来越多的学校会在面试上直接问到文书中的问题，千万别造假。

三类学校是门槛不高的学校，这类学校要求不高，申请的学生本身也是不太优秀，一部分是被忽悠申请的，一部分是只要能出国就行。因此只要申请材料齐全，文书方面也不需要像前两类学校一样去想方设法挖掘，能正常描述学生的情况即可。但是有亮点当然最佳。

如何写好文书?

1.初稿尽可能多的提供背景素材。只要想到的都可以说或者写出来，不要嫌麻烦。因为每个家庭每个孩子的故事都是唯一的，有时候不是一定要有大事件才是故事，生活中的点滴都是故事的来源。

2.不要嫌麻烦的多修改，越是好的学校对文书的要求越高。一个好的文章一定是经过多次雕琢而成的，要不怕辛苦的一次次过目一次次修改和斟酌。

3.文章真实，不造假。说一个谎话容易，不断地圆谎就很难。文书里面提供的内容，应该是真实的，可以去基于已有的情况去挖掘，通过不同的视角去讲述和呈现。只有真金才不怕火烧，杜撰的东西如果遇到招生官深度追问就或多或少会出问题的，所以建议不要冒这个风险!

4.写的文章尽量不要写停课补托福等，要站在美国人的角度考虑问题，比如他们觉得停课为一个考试是非常荒谬，而有些家长在被问到孩子遇到的学术挑战时，就写托福成绩不好如何挑灯夜读将分数提了上来，这不是摆明告诉招生官孩子本身英文不好，纯靠刷题才能拿高分吗?尽量要站在美国人的角度去思考，写出的文书才能更贴近他们。

最后需要注意的是：

SSAT作文，第三方面试的作文以及文书是招生官会看到的材料，所以三者的水平不能够相差太大，有些家长会觉得把文书写得优美才是最好的，但实际上对于学校来说，他们期待的是了解真实的学生个体。学生如果真的没有这样优秀的水平，靠着漂亮的文书进入美高后，其实会是痛苦的开始，会非常难以跟上课程。相反，体现孩子真实的情况，真正引导孩子去写出真实的想法，这个对于孩子自身是一个成长，也是更好地为自己未来负责的方式。
